To download the update for your PC, go to Updating Chrome and Firefox: For both Mac and PC, your Chrome and Firefox browsers may have individual Java plugins which need to be updated.
The Finder based approach is the easier and safer way to uninstall Java from a Mac, though Mac users can also remove Java and JRE via the command line as well.
You can also uninstall Java from the command line by using the rm command, this is aimed for advanced users who understand the ramifications of using rm with superuser privileges.
If you have any more questions about Java our IT Services department can help, please call TCI Technologies at (516) 484-5151.
We provide IT services and consulting to both local businesses and clients in the tri-state area.
This is not for novice users, using the command line requires precise syntax and failure to use proper syntax may result in erroneous commands or unintended data loss.
